But I'm glad that this story touched you and made you reflect on all the happy times you guys have had together.

Your reflections on this story mean a lot and I always value what you share with everyone every day. You are an open book. Not always easy for you, but we all gain so much from your open heart.Traceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06904242597637416501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7090283324416526823.post-48546402978114724362011-01-14T22:25:32.053-08:002011-01-14T22:25:32.053-08:00Gobsmacked is what I am. This entry is so fraught...Gobsmacked is what I am. This entry is so fraught with emotion and sentiment I can barely stand it. You brought tears to my eyes for a couple of reasons. First, in Portugal where my father was born, Madeira Island specifically...there is a saying about the people..."We walk with unbent knee and achieve great speeds!" This made me laugh for years but now I hold it so true. I'm up first, and I go to bed last. Sleep as much as I relish it isn't a priority for me. I want to be out living, and not missing a thing. So in that respect I totally get you!
Second, I'm feeling weepy that you include memories of your grandfather because right now I only have one living grandparent, and that is my paternal grandfather. In the last few weeks he has been in the care of a palliative nurse, even though he still lives at home at the age of 92. He is preparing for his graceful exit. I'm struck with such melancholy and a longing for days gone by that this post really got to me. Thanks for your truth, it is that of so many of us. We don't possess your eloquence or articulation to make ourselves clear though...you speak for all of us with your recall. I love it!
Thanks darlin xoxoGillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08845512494417503198noreply@blogger.com
